Description
Not every photograph begins with a long drive or a hike into the wilderness. Sometimes inspiration can be found just outside the door.
Over the years, I have collected a small assortment of heart-shaped rocks that now live in my garden among weathered driftwood, sun-bleached sticks, and other treasures gathered along the way. Each spring, the starflowers return on their own, bringing color and life back to the garden after winter.
The year this photograph was created, I rearranged a few of the stones and pieces of driftwood so I could place one of my favorite heart-shaped rocks among the flowers. The scene was intentionally composed, but every element reflects something I genuinely enjoy—flowers that return year after year, interesting textures, found objects, and a heart-shaped stone that caught my eye long ago.
I love this image because it brings together many small things that make me happy. There is nothing dramatic or grand about it. It is simply a quiet moment of beauty, assembled from pieces of the world that I chose to keep close.
