Description
This photograph was created during an autumn workshop with a small group from the Magic Valley Camera Club in 2021. Reaching Sheep Falls was part of the adventure. The road in was rough, with deep potholes that demanded patience long before we ever picked up our cameras.
Once we arrived, the work wasn’t over. A winding trail led down to the falls, where we carefully picked our way across rocks and along cliff edges to find compositions. With several photographers sharing the same location, we worked together, taking turns in different spots and helping each other navigate the terrain safely.
As sunset approached, warm light filled the sky above the falls, adding color and contrast to an already dramatic scene. The rushing water, layered volcanic rock, and glowing evening sky came together for one of those moments that makes the effort worthwhile.
This image is a reminder that some photographs are earned step by step. The rough road, the hike, and the scramble across the rocks are all part of the memory every time I look at it.
