Showing for Good Causes
This is the time of year that I get to share my art in the CSI Art Show at the Herrett Center. I have to have my selections submitted before May 22, 2026. In the past there has been an opening event on the first Tuesday of the exhibit, and I am hoping the same holds true this year. I will keep you informed.
One of my favorite parts of this show is that 50% of the sale price of artwork sold goes to the College of Southern Idaho Foundation. The foundation then uses those funds for scholarships.
Many of you know that I am a non-traditional student. For many reasons, including financial ones, I was not able to attend college until later in life. I am grateful that there are now so many scholarship opportunities available. The CSI Foundation supports many different students, and I am thankful for the opportunity to participate in helping future College of Southern Idaho students.
This year I decided to show three images total: two images that have won awards at the Twin Falls County Fair in the past — “Denim Pirate Cow” and “Under Aquila’s Scrutiny” a portrait of a golden eagle from the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center.
The third image is from my recent trip to Yellowstone National Park. “Last Light Beneath Mt. Haynes” is a classic image of bison grazing in the shadow of Mt. Haynes. There is even a little red dog in the scene.
I also decided to donate a copy of “Last Light Beneath Mt. Haynes” to the QRU (Quick Response Unit) for their annual fundraiser. They usually include my work as a silent auction item, so someone can take home a piece of local art while also supporting a group of people who spend their time helping keep our community safe.
